One Direction promise spectacular VMA performance | Jamie Tuohy

One Direction may have only been on the scene for over a year, but theyโ€™ve quickly become the biggest boy band in the world and theyโ€™re promising that their VMA performance tomorrow night will be their most spectacular one yet.

When the fivesome take to the stage tomorrow night at the MTV Video Music Awards, they are planning on staging a musical extravaganza of such epic proportions that it will send their previous efforts into oblivion.

Liam Payne said, “I think performing at the VMAs is such a huge occasion. Like, we’re really looking forward to it, and I think it ranks up there with one of the best performances we’ll do so far,”

He continued, “It’s quite nerve-racking because obviously there have been so many historical moments and stuff that have happened at the VMAs. We want to make a moment ourselves, but who knows.”

Irish member Niall Horan added that the band are excited to be on a bill with some of the worldโ€™s biggest megastars, saying,

โ€œI’m really excited to add our name to the history books when we perform at this year’s VMAsโ€.

The 1D boys are facing stiff competition from fellow teenybopper Justin Bieber, as they go head to head with the star for โ€œMost Share-Worthy Video.โ€ The boys are also up for Best New Artist and their fans have been voting in their millions to clench their heartthrobs the Best Pop Video award as well.

Meanwhile, it was been reported that the five-piece British and Irish boyband are set to become even richer, after signing a deal to become the faces of Pepsi.

Following in the footsteps of Michael Jackson, Beyoncรฉ, David Beckham and Britney Spears, One Direction filmed a top secret advert in New Orleans last week.

The deal, which will see the boys earn astronomical amounts of money, will feature them taking a lesson in American football from New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees.

Nice work if you can get it!

The VMAs are airing Thursday at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
