Is Niall Horan dating Demi Lovato? | Jamie Tuohy

Did you hear that? It’s the sound of millions of Directioners’ hearts all over the world breaking, amid reports that One Direction singer Niall Horan has gone on a date with his all-time crush, fellow popstar, Demi Lovato.

Yes, according to reports, the band’s only Irish member dined with the Disney star in LA’s Pink Taco restaurant, following Thursday’s MTV Video Music Awards.

The pair have been rumoured to be dating for months, with Demi admitting back in June that she thought Niall was “adorable” and Harry and his fellow bandmates have been taking every available opportunity to tease Niall about his crush on Lovato. Styles even joked in an interview that “Niall dreams dirty things” about the 20-year-old US X Factor judge.

It was a good night for Niall and Demi on Thursday, as One Direction scooped three awards, including Best Pop Video for What Makes You Beautiful and Demi won Best Video With A Message for her touching track Skyscraper.

After much virtual flirting, are Niall and Demi set to become Hollywood’s next power-couple? I’m envisioning double dates with Justin and Selena already. Watch this space. (Oh, and well done Niall. On behalf of Ireland: RESPECT!).

Cheryl returns to X Factor | Jamie Tuohy

Cheryl Cole has returned to the X Factor.

Well, for one or two episodes anyway, as she will join Gary Barlow at his judges’ houses segment, whereby she will act as an assisting mentor to the Take That singer.

Apparently, the deal was struck up in secret, so as to keep Simon Cowell in the dark, with Gary asking Cheryl to come on board, following their Diamond Jubilee duet.

It is reported that Gary told Simon that Robbie Williams would return for a second year as Barlow’s assisting mentor, but all the while, Cheryl and Gary had been hatching a mischievous plan for Cheryl to make her X Factor return.

Last night an X Factor source confirmed: “Only Gary’s intimate inner circle know. He hasn’t even discussed it with Simon or ITV bosses. It’s been seriously top secret stuff.

“They’re all under the impression it’s going to be Robbie. No one even noticed the dates for the recording clashed with Robbie’s new solo tour.”

It hasn’t officially been confirmed yet, but with both Simon Cowell and Gary Barlow tweeting the Call My Name singer, it doesn’t take a genius to figure our what they’re not-so-secretly talking about. Simon tweeted a simple “Welcome back Cheryl. X” and Gary joked, “@CherylCole just so we don’t clash, I’m wearing the pink suit with the red shoes ;)”

Cheryl and Gary will be mentoring the over-25s category, with Sharon Osbourne also making a sensational return to the show when she joins Louis Walsh to help him select his four acts from the groups’ category.

Nicole Sherzinger will be aided by Ne-Yo as she tries to whittle down her rumoured cateogory, the boys, and Tulisa will be joined by Tinie Tempah, as she tries to find a winner within the girls’ category.

Meanwhile, Cheryl has been kept busy with her promotional duties for her new single Under the Sun. The 29-year-old singer filmed an interview with Jonathan Ross for his eponymously titled chat-show, which will air tonight (Sept 8) and she looked stunning in a black jumpsuit, with her hair slicked back into a ponytail and sultry and smoky eyes.

As well as performing her new track, Cheryl chatted to Jonathan about her single status and her ex-husband Ashley. She said that she decided to tell him what is coming up in her forthcoming autobiography, saying,

‘I didn’t have to, but I let him know it was happening. I just thought it would be nice that I gave him the heads up so he can leave the country two weeks before.’

Classic Cheryl. Can’t wait to see the interview tonight.
