One Direction Cover Teen Vogue | Jamie Tuohy

Image

Those One Direction boys are literally taking over the world, but they must be pretty thrilled to be making the cover of Teen Vogue. The British and Irish boy band is on the December/January issue of the fashion bible and in what seems to be typical 1D fashion; each member will have his own limited edition cover.

The band’s only Irish member, Mullingar native, Niall Horan insists that they are just normal guys, but concedes that what they do certainly isn’t normal. Harry is quick to back up Niall’s claim, saying,

“One time, a girl dropped her phone in my pocket and I found it and was like, ‘There you go.’ And she said, ‘If you’d had my phone, you’d have had to meet up with me to give it back.” Oh those 1D fangirls…

The boys are in the middle of intense preparations for their forthcoming eight-month world tour, which will include a performance in LA’s legendary Staples Centre. Zayn tells the magazine that the first concert he saw there was a Britney Spears gig and he remembers the enormity of the arena. “This place is massive. Now we’re going to be playing there? I can’t wait.”

This will undoubtedly be one of Teen Vogue’s biggest-selling issues and the competition is on between the five-piece to see whose issue sells the most. I’m prediction a Niall Vs. Harry battle. For all you fangirls/fanboys, head over to @TeenVogue on Twitter, where they are revealing each boy’s cover over the course of the night – one every hour.

This band is only going to get bigger, and richer. Excuse the green emanating from my face – it’s extreme envy.

Is Liam Payne dating Leona Lewis? | Jamie Tuohy

He may only have called off his relationship with dancer Danielle Peazer two weeks ago, but if reports are to be believed, then One Direction’s Liam Payne has already set his sights on his schoolboy crush, Leona Lewis.

Liam and Danielle are believed to have parted ways on amicable terms and split due to Liam’s increasingly busy schedule. However, it looks like Liam isn’t too downhearted with the break-up, as the 1D heartthrob is now believed to be dating Leona.

A ‘source’ (credible, I know) told The Mirror newspaper,

“Liam is really excited about how things are going with Leona.

“As soon as the chance came to ask her out he grabbed it – and they really enjoyed their dates together.

“Although they were in London they managed to stay out of the limelight and are really into each other.”

Liam has made no secret of the fact that he fancies the Collide singer and has made reference to his crush in several interviews. A family member (yay for loyalty) also told the paper that Liam confessed about his love for Leona to Danielle, and Leona gave Liam some advice on dealing with the pressures of fame.

So if this is true, it looks like Harry Styles isn’t the only 1D band member with a penchant for older ladies!

One Direction Rule MTV VMAs 2012 | Jamie Tuohy

One Direction proved that they have well and truly ‘arrived’ in America, after scooping three gongs at last night’s MTV Music Video Awards.

The band comprised of Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson beat off stiff competition, most notably from fellow teenybopper Justin Bieber, to walk away with Best New Artist, Best Pop Video and Most Share-Worthy Video for What Makes You Beautiful.

It was nothing short of a British invasion at last night’s awards, as Coldplay won Best Rock Video for Paradise, but were unable to attend, as they were performing in the Netherlands. Calvin Harris managed to add to Brittania’s domination last night, as he came away with Best Electronic Dance Music Video for his hit track Feels So Close.

Meanwhile, the most prestigious award of the night – Video of the Year went to Rihanna for her collaborative song with Calvin Harris, We Found Love.

The singer, who was sporting a new pixie hairstyle, kicked off the night’s proceedings with a performance of the winning track, which morphed into a medley, featuring Cockiness (I Love It) feat. A$AP and was seen kissing her ex Chris Brown on the lips when her name was announced as the winner.

Katy Perry, who also won a VMA last night – Best Art Direction for her Wide Awake video took to the stage to praise Rihanna’s performance and returned to present One Direction with their ‘Moonman’ gong for Best Pop Video.

Perry kissed each 1D member on the lips and Niall began the thank-yous by saying, “We’ve grown up watching this show and to even be here is an honour.”

It must have been a surreal moment for the Mullingar native and the band’s only Irish member to kiss Katy Perry on stage at LA’s Staples Centre, as she was the judge who had the deciding vote when Niall auditioned for the X Factor in Dublin back in 2010.

Since the X Factor, One Direction have gone on to become one of the biggest boybands in the world – making chart history back in March, when they became the first British boyband to debut at No.1 on the American Billboard 200 Album Chart.
